Personal information gained through the Government’s proposed metadata retention scheme may be a black mark against your name in the eyes of employers. It is common practice for ASIO to email information to public service employers, and other employers who require government certifications, for security clearances. Recently released ASIO files have shown that some applicants were targeted because of their political affiliations.
