On the weekend the people of Turkey voted to limit the power of the Justice and Development Party or AKP, the party founded by President Erdogan thirteen years ago. Of particular significance will be the entry into Parliament of a pro-Kurdish party, the People’s Democratic Party or HDP, which sought to unite secular voters across the country and those who opposed President Erdogan.
