Election 2010: Family First faces tough election

The current election campaign has seen the political party Family First plagued with controversies. In the last two weeks alone, the party has:-been accused of trying to strike a preference deal with the Sex Party, seen its Queensland Senate Candidate caught on Twitter likening homosexual parents to child abusers and today it disendorsed a candidate who declared a abortion was a women’s choice. Despite all this the party is likely to garner strong support in certain states at the upcoming Federal election. As part of our dedicated election coverage, The Wire’s Nic Christensen looks at the Party, its leader Steve Fielding and likelihood of retaining its senate seat.
