Elders from the Muckaty area made clear to a senate inquiry hearing in Darwin today that they never put their hands up for a nuclear waste dump on their land. The federal government says that the Muckaty site was volunteered by the local elders, and that the nomination has the continuing support of the local Ngapa clan and of the Northern Land Council. But traditional owners from the Muckaty area who made the long trip to the Darwin today, had a very different message.
