The Moriarty Foundations First Nations educational program ‘Indi Kindi‘ is expanding further into rural communities in Australia’s Top-End, looking to address restrictions to learning accessibility for Indigenous children in the area.

Since 2012, the program has reached 80% of children in Borroloola and the Robinson River region in the Northern Territory, engaging with local community and traditional elders to inform its educational practices and creating jobs, predominantly for Women. The program intends to contribute to ‘Closing the gap’, hoping to eradicate health and life expectancy disparity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians through a opening up a range of opportunities.

Indi Kindi has recently partnered with UNICEF Australia, providing a substantial amount of required funding which will see expansion into Tennant Creek in 2021. There are plans to expand into Kuranda, Queensland going forward.
