Poor nations are losing out in the carbon trading stakes as governments commit to small reduction targets. A conference held today at the Australian National University has cast a negative light on the economic ethics of the government’s emission trading scheme. Conference speakers are saying our weak commitment to reducing carbon output is jeopardizing the economic interest of developing nations. They say poorer nations will have to pick up the slack sometime in the future in order for developed nations to continue emitting at the current rate.
