The Federal Government released its Defense White Paper today. Defense spending, currently worth $22.7 billion a year, is set to increase by 3% until 2017, and then 2.2% per year until 2030. Plans to acquire 12 submarines, 100 jet fighters, navy destroyers, freighters, and inter-continental ballistic missiles have alarmed China. And with the budget around the corner, the Opposition and the Greens are questioning where the money is supposed to be coming from.
