The deposed Liberal Leader Brendan Nelson is heading for the backbench today, and has promised to give his full support to the new opposition leader Malcolm Turnbull. In a bold move to end speculation over his leadership, Nelson called a party room meeting this morning and opened up the top job to a vote. But the move backfired with Malcolm Turnbull securing a slim victory of 45 to 41 votes. It followed months of speculation over whether Peter Costello would contest the leadership of the party. So what can voters expect from Turnbull, and can he put a dent in Kevin Rudd’s popularity?
