Most of Australia’s large cities and towns already have flouride added to the water supply…but now, the huge bottled water industry, is pushing to have the medication in some of its products. The Australian Beverages Council has asked the food standards authority to approve the use of flouride in bottled drinks. For many the topic of fluoridated water is a hotly contested issue. The Australian Dental Association says there is strong evidence that tooth decay is dramatically reduced by flouride. But The Australian Fluoride Information Network says compulsory fluoridation is wrong and should be reviewed.
