David Melzer is president of the Community Broadcasting Foundation. His career in the sector has taken him to remote Australia to work in a station dedicated to keeping local indigenous culture alive, to the city where an ethnic station gave a supportive centre to diverse cultures, and to the world of music where he found the MBS stations led to the ABC responding to popular demand and creating Classic FM .
