Yesterday Beverley May Eitzen was acquitted of the murder of her 16 year old disabled son on the grounds of mental incompetence. The judge found she had become increasingly depressed about her future as the primary carer of her son. This tragic event shed light on the need for more support for parents raising children with disabilities. Currently there is a push for more support for family members and carers looking after children with special needs.
