Digital Rights Activists concerned about copyright in the TPP

Successive Australian Governments have participated in the secret negotiations over the Trans Pacific Partnership. The TPP is billed as sorting out the trade issues of the 21st centuries. But a draft copy of the bill, leaked in 2011, reveals heavy intellectual property provisions. Digital rights activists say the onerous copyright provisions favour established artists and corporations, will impact “anyone who uses content”, and could be used to curtail freedom of speech.
