Many democrats and indeed President Biden were heartened to gain control of the US Senate following the elections last week.

Whilst control of the House is less likely, counting continues and the result will be close.  Foreign policy issues for Australia are that it is likely that the US stance on China will harden which will give us a more difficult balance to attain.
