A discussion paper released today warns that dementia is set to become a significant problem in Australia. It is expected that one million people are to be diagnosed with the illness by 2050.

The report is by Alzheimer’s Australia NSW and regards the challenges that dementia poses for Australia. It stresses the need for greater dementia understanding in Australia and recommends a ‘National Awareness Campaign’. Sixty-five year old Helen James also speaks about what it is like being a full time carer for her husband who has dementia.
