Deforestation in Queensland has risen to an unsustainable level, according to the Statewide Landcover and Trees Study.
In one year deforestation increased by 33%, with almost 400,000 hectares of woody vegetation cleared.
Queensland Environment Minister Dr Steven Miles says the sediment run off threatens to suffocate the Great Barrier Reef.
