This morning the Federal Government announced it will trial unmanned aerial surveillance aircraft to guard North-West Shelf resource assets off the coast of Western Australia. Defence Minister Robert Hill says it’s all about being prepared, while Shadow Minister Kim Beazley says the planes should be armed. Lecturer in International Relations at Flinders University Dr Michael Sullivan says this will send mixed messages to our near neighbours
