The annual Greenhouse Gas Bulletin released by the World Meteorological Organisation last night confirmed that greenhouse gasses are on an exponential rise. Yet in light of this, the Queensland government today announced financial incentives for mining companies that become involved in coal mining projects in the Galilee Basin.
If these projects so ahead, coal mined from the basin would eventually emit hundreds of millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. So who is going to address the environmental elephant in the room?
