Deaths ‘likely’ to have been caused by coalfire

A reconvened inquiry into the 2014 Hazelwood mine coal fire has found that an increase in deaths at the time was likely to have been caused by the pollution from the fire. Local protest group Voices of the Valley say the decision vindicates them but action now needs to be taken on more pollution monitoring and action from the health department over the deaths and disease in the area
