Death sentences declining, but still lots of work to do

Last Friday Amnesty International released their latest report on capital punishment and executions. The report shows only 20 countries out of 198 carried out executions last year. Campaign director at Amnesty International, Andrew Beswick, said although there have been improvement there is still a long way to go.

This comes as in Australia, support for capital punishment is still at a surprising highThe Australian National University found in 2007 that 44 per cent still thought the death penalty should be reintroduced.
