Tens of Thousands of students and alumni from Deakin university have had their details hacked this week after the university suffered a cyber security breach.

Deakin is the latest in a string of Australian universities suffering cyber breaches including the Australian Catholic University, Swinburne University of Technology, The University of Tasmania and the Australian National University.

Nigel Phair from the Institute for Cyber Security believes Universities need to collaborate to combat this threat.
