In response to the lack of representation of Indigenous athletes in soccer; the Football Federation of Australia has partnered with local Indigenous communities to host the first National Indigenous Football Championships.

Held in New South Wales this past weekend, 24 teams and almost 500 male and female athletes participated.

Deemed a success by organisers and participants alike. The Championships aim to not only offer indigenous athletes a pathway to a future in the game, but to raise awareness about Indigenous issues and promote a healthy lifestyle.
