It’s no surprise that Arts workers are generally known for inspirational creativity rather than legal expertise. Which is fine until you consider the copyright issues they face working in modern Australia. But with a Senate Inquiry preparing a report on abuses within the Indigenous arts and crafts sector, legal rights are high on the agenda. Executive Director of the Arts Law Centre in Sydney, Robyn Ayres, has been telling Gold Coast artists how to take steps to protect their rights. Artsworkers in Sydney will be able to sign up to learn more when Arts Law runs a new series of seminars at the end of March.
