Couples seeking surrogacy arrangements undeterred by legal prohibitions

A paper published in the Medical Journal of Australia seems to show couples seeking a surrogate arrangement are undeterred by laws against paying a surrogate parent to carry a child for them. The authors argue the results show Australia should change its laws to allow for so-called commerical surrogacy because it will tend to happen overseas anyway, where there aren’t often proper legal protections in place.
