A group of homeless people being evicted from the parklands around Adelaide are threatening to protest, saying they should have the right to camp on public grounds. But the city’s Council begs to differ saying that everyone should have the right to housing this day in age.

The Adelaide City Council says camping in its parklands is not safe because it puts people’s health at risk. They want to impose a time limit of one week after which, the council has the authority to forcibly remove campers. The council is offering to help the homeless people find temporary shelter, but  Alice Clark from Shelter SA says homeless people are extremely vulnerable and the council’s approach is not helping.
