Plans to introduce a tax on sugary drinks has been given the go ahead by the UK parliament. The Tax, set to go into effect within the next two years, applies to drinks containing over 5 grams of sugar per every 100ml. The tax is an effort to reduce rates of childhood obesity, but will this action be effective? If so, should the Australian government be looking to take similar action? Greg Johnson, CEO of Diabetes Australia, gave his insight on how a sugar tax could work to improve the overall health of Australians.
