A new set of ratings of Australia’s 50 biggest companies was released today. It’s not related to their stock price or their market share – its about how socially responsible they are. It’s called Corp Rate and is a collaboration between OXFAM, the Australian Conservation Foundation, and the Australian Consumer’s Association. They judged the big companies on their social responsibility, their environmental record and their corporate governance record and it appears there is still lots of work to be done, with only five out of the fifty passing the test.
