The deputy state coroner Christine Clements ordered a closed session yesterday, of the inquest into the death of Mulrunji Doomadgee after an Indigenous witness became distressed. The inquest has moved to Townsville today, where the arresting police officer, Senior Sergeant Chris Hurley is expected to give evidence again. It’s also alleged the police officer deliberately drove over the foot of a local woman with a paddywagon, and assaulted another prisoner, causing the man to wet himself. But counsel for the police Steve Zillman has accused Mr Cannon of fabricating the incident. The Wire Team spoke to Rio Walsh, resident of Palm Island.
