A resolution has unanimously passed the World Health Assembly for an independent inquiry into the origins of coronavirus.

The historic decision comes after weeks of negotiations and surmounting tensions that has placed Australia between China and the US.

Scott Morrison received blowback from China three weeks ago when he first called for the independent inquiry.

Since then Australia has amassed the support of 116 countries bringing the WHA to pass the motion. China, however, is painting this outcome as a win against Australia.

The Wire’s Aidan Moller discusses the recent developments.
