COP 21: What’s already on the table in Paris?
The Paris Climate Conference, known as COP21, officially opens today with over 150 world leaders meeting in the French capital, with the goal of delivering a new and legally binding agreement on climate change. The aim is to peg back global warming to two degrees Celsius. Australia’s Minister for the Environment, Greg Hunt, said Australia was serious about its commitment to action and doing its part in the fight. Unlike previous climate conferences, this time the major deals were done in advance at meetings held a couple of weeks ago. So what exactly is on the table as the talks kick off and is, as the Environment Minister claims, Australia doing enough?
