Consumer advocate for deaf community says conversation needed for cinema accessibility

Attending the cinema is not always as simple as sitting back and taking in the big screen…with some alleging most movie sessions are not accessible or inclusive for the hard of hearing.

This week, a group from the deaf and hard of hearing community announced they are taking cinema chain, HOYTS to the Victoria Civil and Administrative Tribunal, calling for 100 percent open captions. (Open captions are permanently on while closed captions can be switched on and off).

But, one member of the deaf community disagrees and says more conversation is needed.
