Consultation process for Cape York world heritage listing questioned

Federal Environment Minister, Tony Burke has said the decision to nominate Cape York as a world heritage site will ultimately lie with traditional owners of the land. Burke visited the far north Queensland community today in an effort to communicate the government’s position to the Indigenous community. His visit comes amongst recent criticism throughout the Cape York community of the government’s consultation process.
