Constitutional change not the most urgent need for indigenous Australia

Kevin Rudd was handed a symbolic message yesterday as he consulted Aboriginal people in Arnhem land – and in response he’s said he’ll look at having a referendum about changing the Constitution to recognise the rights of indigenous people in this country. Australia had one of those in 1967 and National Indigenous Times editor Chris Graham says another referendum on the issue is far less important than getting real change happening now.
