UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee met on Wednesday to discuss the status of conservation of the Old City of Jerusalem.
The Committee, in a secret ballot, agreed to retain the walled area that is home to key Muslim, Christian and Jewish holy sites.
The resolution aims to respect the status quo of all of the old city’s religious sites, but not everyone is happy about it.
Amongst the disgruntled is Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who says he will contact his ambassador to UNESCO for consultations on how to proceed.
