Every year an estimated 2.3 million people die every year from workplace illnesses and accidents.
In Australia the most dangerous jobs are done by drivers, machine operators and labourers.
But most of those jobs have inherent risks, their workers aren’t under threat by others.
By contrast, last year 114 journalists, bloggers and media workers were killed for doing their job.
Just recently the UN Human Rights Council has called on countries to implement legal frameworks to protect journalists from attack.
So will this help?
