Concern over developments in Palestinian Territories

The Palestinian Territories remain in a state of complete upheaval. Last week saw the President Mamoud Abbas sack the democratically elected Hamas government, following ongoing violence between Hamas and the Fatah faction, which Abbas belongs to. The West has welcomed President Abbas’ appointment of a new government, and Israel has said that it now has a partner for peace in Abbas. But, there are concerns that the situation bordering civil war between Hamas and Fatah will do nothing to create conditions for peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
