Community television stations definitely have a place in Australian society – for some country networks, it’s the only way audiences can tune in to content that represents who they are. But that all looks set to change with the advent of the Federal Government’s Digital Action Plan, which Communications Minister Helen Coonon unveiled yesterday. With licences up for grabs for the major media players, community TV networks are concerned about where they stand. To explain more is Vice-President of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, Andrew Bryan.
