In all the excitement about the new digital economy and the brave new media landscape community broadcasting is also looking to secure its future with a plan called Vision 2015. They’re asking for extra funding over the five years to build up community broadcasting to have a central role in delivering local content, training communities for the digital age and delivering jobs. Considering 57% of all Australians over 15 years of age are regular community radio listeners, Community Broadcasting Association of Australia president Deb Welch says she thinks politicians should look favourably on the plan.
