Community Radio turns 40 today as the first community station to be licensed, Radio Adelaide, celebrates its birthday. Tony Staley was Minister for Post and Telecommunications in the Fraser government. He was instrumental in getting the legislation through that allowed the community sector to exist. He says it has been an enormously successful experiment with more than 400 stations now operating around the country.
