This week commercial TV got a huge boost in the form of concessions from the government. It’s not clear what the exact amount will be but it could be as high as half a billion dollars. Communications Minister Stephen Conroy has justified the funding bonanza as assuring quality and more Australian content from the networks as they convert to digital. Meanwhile everyone’s dealing with digital – networks outside of the free-to-air sector think they should get a piece of the pie too.
