Most of us have come out of a film or a play feelin deeply affected because it’s touched a nerve with our own experience. In an upcoming play at the Adelaide Fringe, the audience is offered a bit of after-show counselling. Co-founders of theatre company MAIDEN, Kate Hancock and Kate Ward realised that the play Low Level Panic by Clare McIntyre might affect people in the audience who’ve actually experienced sexual assault, they decided to make sure that help is on hand afterwards. Director of Women’s Health Statewide Ann-Marie Hayes says it’s important to provide the audience with the right resources after the performance.
