Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey joined Opposition Leader Tony Abbott in Adelaide today to announce the Coalition’s first major economic policy of this election campaign: a 1.5% company tax cut. The Coalition claims the policy has been fully costed and will give businesses more confidence and stability to invest in Australia. But the current Government has attacked the lack of costing evidence put forward by Mr Hockey, and says that the policy opens the door for public spending cuts and other tax increases – such as a GST increase.
