While Labor is consulting about what their emission reduction target will be, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is saddled with the target set by the Abbott government. In August last year, then Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced the Coalition’s target of a 26-28 percent reduction by 2030. This was despite the Climate Change Authority pushing for a 40% reduction in emissions as the bare minimum.
