Tasmania’s old-growth forests have been in the political spotlight in the last week of the campaign. The coalition released their policy yesterday, promising to protect the forests and the jobs of forest industry workers. The policy has been received with a mixed reaction. Anna Day spoke to the executive director of the National Association of Forest Industries Kate Carnell who gave strong support to the Coalition’s package. However the executive director of the Australian Conservation Foundation Don Henry says the policy does little to protect the forests.
