Julia Gillard has announced that only 46% of indigenous students completed year 12 in comparison to 75% of non indigenous in students 2008. This is another gap that needs closing in aboriginal communities. Rod Smith, the President of the Education Union in Northern Territory calls for a more practical approach to close the gap and Robert Mills who taught at a rural indigenous school says we should keep bilingual schools to encourage attendance.
