Climate change activists from the group Rising Tide have today staged a protest on the roof of Climate Change minister Greg Combet’s electorate office in western Newcastle. They placed solar panels on the roof, and hung a large sign off a prominent wall of the office. They say they’re concerned that polluters are strongly lobbying Greg Combet to provide them with large amounts of compensation under the proposed carbon tax. They’re concerned that compensation paid to big polluters could eat away at the proceeds of the proposed carbon tax. They want the funds to go to renewable energy projects.
