Climate change is a significant security threat putting pressure on the Australian Defense Force – this is what the latest Climate Council report is saying. Extreme weather, food and water security are just some of the effects of climate change that can worsen tensions and increase the risk of conflict between states. The report, co-authored by former chief of the ADF Chris Barrie, found Australia lagging behind the US and the UK in preparing its militaries for climate change, with Australian forces already under strain.
