China has released a draft cyber security law for public consultation, which could mean greater online censorship and further limits to free speech. The law includes policies to increase user privacy and reduce cyber attacks, but other elements have the potential to legitimatise current censorship practices. Amnesty International China Researcher, William Nee, told The Wire about internet censorship in China and the proposed laws.
