Thousands of child migrants were sent to Australia from child care institutions in the UK and Malta. Their lives were totally disrupted and changed forever yet they managed to recreate their lives in Australia. There is a debate about how many children actually came to here… some put the figure at six thousand, others believe it was as high as thirty thousand. Today the experiences and contributions of child migrants were acknowledged in an emotional dedication ceremony in Adelaide. Adelaide Migration Museum Director VIV SZEKERES talked to Ela Smith about the new memorial.
