The appointment of Chief Scientist Dr Alan Finkel has been welcomed by scientists and politicians alike but Dr Finkel is already making waves with his desire for a coal-free future. Finkel says all alternatives sources should be considered in the energy mix including solar, wind and nuclear. His voice joins 61 other eminent Australians but Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has reiterated his support for the coal industry saying it’s an important part of the energy mix and can help alleviate poverty.
