During Covid 19 lockdown the plight of the homeless in our cities quickly became visible and had to be dealt with. The solution – putting them up in empty hotels – has been a success but has focused attention on what next. Architect Gerald Matthews believes its time to redesign our CBDs to protect society’s vulnerable who are forced to call the public space home.
